We bridge the gap between tradition and innovation by offering American, Hybrid, and Spirit oak hand-crafted in the Napa Valley, alongside French oak imported from our historic cooperages in Bordeaux and Burgundy. By using our own sawmills in the US and abroad, we maintain complete control over the entire manufacturing process. This vertical integration ensures that every product—from staves to finished barrels—delivers the uncompromising consistency and high quality you can rely on year after year.

FIRST FRENCH COOPERAGE OF AMERICA:

2020 marked the 40th anniversary of the founding of Tonnellerie Francaise in Calistoga, CA. Since 1980 we have forged relationships, partnered with countless winemakers around the globe, and gained invaluable experience – we’ve rolled up our sleeves and worked hard, put in the hours, had many “spirited” family discussions, and learned through many trials (and even more errors along the way).

Here, at our Napa Valley Cooperage, our skilled coopers hand-craft each American, Hybrid, and Eastern European oak barrel.

We take great pride in the fact that over 50% of our artisans have been producing our barrels for more than 25 years, with an impressive overall average tenure of 18+ years. These skilled craftsmen have devoted their careers to mastering the art of cooperage, preserving and perfecting French traditions that have been passed down through generations.
